SEGMENT 1
OBSERVING. There is at least one white male in black or dark clothing that is removing parts of an antique hallway that is to be renovated (some type of inner walls), exposing the inner walls closest to the exterior walls.
SEGMENT 2
PARTICIPATING. I'm in an unknown room (not seen because it is behind me), and I open the door that looks out into a rectangular hall with a central oval-shaped balcony that runs most of the hall's length. On the left of the hall are clear unadorned windows. I look around the hall then step into it.
To my right a door opens and a woman steps into her doorway, stepping partway into the hall (don't remember her race). [The observing self recognizes her as my waking life neighbor, S___.] Her room is brightly lit with a light yellow artificial light. She has a colorful canister (pale bluish gray, with 1 inch diameter black, pink and white dots and ribbon on top) in her (right?) hand. She asks if I'd like the canister (and whatever is in it). (I've forgotten exactly what she said). I think I hesitate but since she seems sincere and regretful as if trying to make up for something, I gracefully accept the gift with a smile then say, "Thank you". She seems nice. I turn away and head back to my room with the canister.
SEGMENT 3
PARTICIPATING. The next thing I'm standing in my doorway, looking out into the hallway again, but now the brown wood floors are completely wet, and I'm baffled as to why. Then I look over at the wall of windows and see that outside them water is pouring down the glass from a heavy rainfall, but the interior side of the windows and the flooring is completely wet. I realize the rain is getting inside--a leakage. With the mystery solved, my attention turns elsewhere. I walk toward the balcony banister.
In the next instant I'm leaning against the banister--my left hand grasping the rail as I look down to the landing then reach across with my right hand to the opposite banister (somehow this is possible). Without warning a large section of the banister on my side gives way, leaving a baluster hanging (to my left) from the top of the remaining section of the banister. I hang on with my right hand, dangling over the downstairs landing where a few people walking are walking toward the exit to the right. One of them is thought to be the renovator on his way out. I also see (what is remembered as) a woman in a light blue nurse-type uniform or dress.
With my free left hand I reach for the spoke and begin to twist the lower two sections in an attempt to tighten them so I can securely grab it and hopefully maneuver my way back onto the floor. I worry that it is not going to hold my weight as it is a fragment of the fallen banister section.
Coming up the left side of the three foot wide staircase (dark gray carpet or other surface) are two white, middle-aged gentlemen (late 40's to late 50's): The first man is wearing a light yellow or white/cream shirt under a black suit, and he has on a black Bowling hat. A few feet behind him the second man is dressed slightly less formally (no full suit) with all black clothing. I'm relieved to see them; they don't seem to notice me, so I call out to them, the first man specifically because he is closest to me. He looks up in surprise (I feel myself to be in my 20's and nice-looking, possibly Caucasian or fair-skinned). I say, "Will you help me?" and he just stares at me in shock, but I can see he is prepared to help. The observing me recognizes that the man will become an important part of my life (in that lifetime) beyond rescuing me.
HALLWAY DESCRIPTION
A wide rectangular hall (the word "Gallery" and "Rotunda" keeps popping into my head) about 15 feet long and at least 3.5 feet wide (running left to right in the dream) with a staircase access at center right of a central, oval-shaped, banister style balcony that runs most of the hall's length. The wood on the walls, window slats, baseboard under the window, and floors of the upper hall are a dark walnut or mahogany--brown but not very dark.
The floors are made up of narrow (about 5 inch wide) slats of wood that run horizontally along the length of the hallway (left to right from my observing vantage point).
The balcony overlooks the main floor part of the staircase and main floor and is made of narrow-spaced, 3 feet high vertical balusters that run the entire balcony width and length. The balusters are made up of three identical small sections screwed together, and the balcony banister is about three and a half feet from the doors.
Doors run the length of the hallway on one side but I'm not sure what is on the opposite (further) side. I don't remember the color of the doors or walls--they aren't of a light color--just that there is a wood baseboard under the windows, and a vague memory that all of the walls are made of the aforementioned wood.
My room is center left of the side closest to the dream screen, and there are other rooms to the right of mine and at least one room to the left.
On the far right is a wall remembered as being another wall of glass, similar to a partition beyond which seems to be an office or something. Maybe it's just a mirrored wall.
On the left, the wall is is made of gorgeous side by side unadorned windows that are about five feet away from my room.
Last but not least, the ceilings were high at about 15 to 20 feet. Not clearly seen.
WINDOW DESCRIPTION
A wall of windows that start lengthwise from a 2.5 to 3 foot wood base to the ceiling and from a narrow band of wood on the left and right with vertical narrow strips of wood separating the windows. throughout the hall was a with medium brown walnut or mahogany wood that has a nice sheen when wet and appears basically smooth. There are 3 or 4 windows side by side and separated by narrow stripes of wood. The panes are clear and void of any window treatments and they curve gently outward at horizontal center from wall base floor to ceiling, giving the exterior a gently curved appearance. These windows should provide a reasonable amount of natural light.
STAIRCASE & LANDING DESCRIPTION
The staircase is one flight in 2 or 3 sections or a single section that changes direction. From my vantage point, the last man was coming up from the right then turned left to the final stretch of ten or so steps. Going downstairs, the stairs led straight down for half a flight then turns rightward (and possibly a third turn further right). The upper staircase exits onto a wide rotunda-styled wide hallway. The staircase is accessed from the main floor landing. The stairs and the main floor surface are dark grey with the landing being almost black and matte with small white speckles. The stairs may be carpeted, if not then of the same surface as the main floor.
NOTE: Just had a flash memory again of there being a second staircase on the opposite side OR the staircase is similar to a spiral staircase. I don't remember there being a second access point, though.
FINAL COMMENTS
This dream had parts which hinted at a past life: The hall and it's antique structure with dark wood, curved windows and a rotunda-styled balcony. I'm not sure what era was hinted at beyond that. It was like taking 21st century people (me and S___) and sticking us into the 19th or early 20th century.
INTERPRETATION
What is most striking is the antique hallway which was so beautiful. The next thing that drew my attention were the windows. Next, the recognition of S___ and last, the wet flooring caused by the rain.
It appears that there is a reference on the relationship between me and S___, my neighbor. However, WHAT the reference is, I'm not certain because I've no idea if the dream is referring to a past life that we may have shared. Or maybe it's an alternate life or may even refer to the future in this lifetime.
The hallway and the apparel of the men in the dream (not sure know what S___ was wearing, but I'm getting a flash memory of a long gown or robe) was distinctly from the Mid 19th to Early 20th century. A few of the men wore black suits with black Bowler hats (curved tops with short or flip up brims). This is the 2nd or 3rd dream with a man wearing a suit with such a hat. Hmmmm.
This dream is an example of how how past life material/memories come through to us. In bits and pieces, sometimes mixed in with modern settings and decor. The dream following this one of the old factory buildings and military practice is another example past (or even future) life material seeping into our dreams.
